British boxer Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Fatal Road Accident

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos announced on late Wednesday. The fighter was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.

Healing from Light Wounds

The sports star had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, his management team had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to continue his recovery at home.

“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.

Remembering the Victims

The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”

This update on his health comes as the boxing community offered condolences for the star in the wake of the terrible crash.
