Experience this Revamped Classic Journey: This Free Demo for Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined Arrives Soon.
Enthusiasts eagerly awaiting the release of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined can get a head start too much longer. An free-to-play playable preview is set to release on Jan. 7, granting a sizable look into the game's initial chapters. Notably, all advancement made within this demo is eligible to be carried over directly into the main game upon its February launch.
More Than a Simple Re-release: A Thorough Overhaul
This project is a comprehensive re-envisioning of the iconic 2000 RPG, first known as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. In a distinct step away from recent Dragon Quest re-releases, like the recently launched HD-2D iterations, this version embraces a charming 3D visual presentation. Locales appear to evoke intricate dioramas, with characters having a whimsical stylized design.
"Taking into account the previous remake, the main quest was still quite lengthy. Therefore, we came to a determination that we wanted to tighten the story, [and] make this adventure for modern gamers."
Major Gameplay Changes & Updates
Square Enix have added several enhancements to streamline the original gameplay loop. These include:
- Expedited Overworld Encounters: Inspired by contemporary RPGs, weaker monsters are now defeated instantly on the field eliminating the need for initiating a full traditional combat screen.
- Variable Combat Speed: Players have the option to accelerate combat animations to quickly get past less challenging fights.
- New Vocation Mechanics: One brand new character role has been created for this remake. Furthermore, characters gain the capacity to take on a second job, greatly enhancing strategic possibilities.
These changes seek to tackle one of the 2000 title's common points of feedback: its daunting playtime. The original storyline was known to require more than 100 hours to finish. This new edition was expressly designed to refine progression and reduce perceived repetition.
