Hulu is Producing a Popular Game TV Series from the Minds of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The latest Far Cry game that audiences explored was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and came out on October 6, 2021. As a series, it has a reputation for delighting in action and madness with equal enthusiasm, all while telling gripping, politically driven tales. It’s no surprise that FX's new order for a Far Cry limited-run show attracted two visionaries whose work have represented all of those qualities.

Show Details

Based on Ubisoft's popular video game property, the short-run anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The show will also mirror the video games' structure by having a new backdrop and group of personalities in each season.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as showrunners on the series under their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared excellent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are working together for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is fresh, engrossing, and extremely entertaining. We also want to appreciate our associates at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this cherished property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also star in the show, but currently, we have no details on what part that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just greenlit for another season, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new overall deal with the creator.

“Getting to work together with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, entrusting us with one of the most iconic video-game realms ever created. And throughout this process, my FX team constantly supports me with their steady trust and backing.”

“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an standalone series. Every title is a variation of a idea, the same way each season of Fargo is a variation on a story,” noted Hawley. “To create a epic action show that can evolve from year to year, while always examining the core of people through this intricate and turbulent perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m eager to work with Rob and introduce our shared unconventional, visionary approach to the audience.”

A schedule for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
