Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and had been in communication with the NFL.

The organization did not mention the player specifically in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Posted on Social Media

The woman, who also did not mention Rice by name, posted a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the team selected in the second round.

Official Complaints Currently Not on File

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

Rice missed the first six games of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that left several individuals hurt. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, he concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
