Miami scored eighty-six opening half scores against the Grizzlies

Miami Heat earned a crushing 146-114 win against the Memphis Grizzlies in their initial basketball match after guard Rozier was arrested for alleged illegal sports betting.

Portland Trail Blazers coach Chauncey Billups was also detained in connection with a sweeping FBI investigation into illegal gambling. The two individuals deny the allegations.

But, the Miami team were focused as they put up 86 first-half scores to lead Memphis by thirty-nine at halftime, the largest halftime lead in the franchise's 37 year history.

Adebayo led the way with 24 scores and afterwards said Terry had the support of the team.

"We stand behind him. Full support," Bam stated. "We are with him all the way. That's our brother at the end of the day."

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra added: "Rozier is somebody who is very dear to everyone. He has made a real positive impact on our team.

"We send our thoughts and support for him as he faces the situation."

The Trail Blazers additionally won their first game since the arrests, with Brazil-born Tiago Splitter taking over as interim coach in Chauncey's non-attendance and guiding the team to a convincing 139 to 119 win against the Warriors.

"We all had great experiences with Billups and how he coached," Splitter remarked. "Our thoughts are with him and his loved ones but we have a job to do."

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver 'Disturbed' over Recent Events

Addressing the arrests for the first time, NBA commissioner Adam Silver said he was "deeply disturbed" by the incidents of the recent days.

"There's nothing more important to the league and supporters than the integrity of the competition," he informed a broadcaster. "And so I felt uneasy. It was very upsetting."

Silver further mentioned an NBA investigation into the player's actions in spring 2023, when there was "unusual wagering" in a game he played for the Charlotte Hornets versus the Pelicans, found nothing untoward.

"It was brought to our attention by the authorities and the gambling firms," he added.

"We investigated that situation and were open regarding it. And while there was the unusual wagering, we, frankly, found no evidence.

"The federal government has legal authority... [it] can impose penalties, can take various actions that the league office can't do.

"So, we've been working with them since then. And, of course, what they revealed yesterday was an indictment.

"Moreover 30 months later, he still hasn't been convicted of any offense, in justice to Rozier.

"Obviously, it doesn't look good, but he's been put on administrative leave, and so it is a compromise in this case between upholding rights and conducting an inquiry."
