Tributes Flow for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Face a Security Hold.
More than two weeks after the tragic deaths of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues are still paying respects to the duo.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Posting on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, explained he only now felt able to express about his profound loss.
"Adequate time has passed that I can at last put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his initial encounter with Reiner made him fall in love. "Once we started passing more hours together I realized this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor posted never-before-seen clips from the production, adding that he could not remember "a single day without mirth".
"The movie is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Principles that Rob cherished deeply. Which is among the many reasons he was the ideal person to direct it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, saying: "Asserting that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I recall you." He finished with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Colleague and Comrade
In a distinct tribute, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved being with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the protagonist.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked seamlessly with everyone, and he comprehended the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese noted.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Withheld
This week, a Los Angeles judge decided to block the publication of the Reiners' autopsy reports, following a petition from the LAPD.
A legal directive put a security hold on the investigation to prohibit the public release of "related notes, notes, reports or photos" associated with the ongoing investigation.
The relevant authority had earlier stated their deaths were the outcome of homicide, with a official listing citing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Aftermath and Reactions
Following the killings, public figures expressed varying comments.
Former President Donald Trump commented on the matter, making controversial remarks that were widely condemned by several public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his criticism to the detractors last week. Conversing on his podcast, Rogan labeled the statements as "disturbing" and remarked they showed a concerning deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan finished by proposing that an adviser could have acted when the impulse to weigh in on the death was made.
